Running from a T-Rex user makes things worse. Transformed attacks cause heavy bleeding, and the health loss speeds up while the target runs, so the usual escape plan backfires.

Traders ask for T-Rex mostly because of grinding. NPCs stay stunned, most moves have little startup or endlag, and many attacks use destructible physics, which speeds up farming Wooden Planks. The Prey Mark passive can cancel chargeable and holdable attacks, a direct answer to Pain and Empyrean users. Most moves also break Instinct.

Timing your purchase matters. [M1] needs no mastery, but the transformation move sits behind high mastery, so in the First Sea and early Second Sea you will have four skills at most. We would farm with another fruit until mid or late game and eat T-Rex after that.

Air fights are where it struggles. Range is short, the hitbox is small and airborne enemies are almost impossible to hit. A few moves lock you in place, which gets risky against more than one player. The tail you get while it is equipped is purely cosmetic. It costs exactly the same as Mammoth, yet the two play nothing alike.
